Panel 2 - Contribution of information and knowledge to the processes of sanitary reform in Latin America and the Caribbean

Information, knowledge and scientific evidences play a critical role in the evolution of governability and operation of health systems. Starting in the 80s, most countries of Latin America and the Caribbean carried out processes of reforms of their health systems to increase effectiveness, efficiency and impact on the improvement of health conditions. These reforms had adopted diverse models, processes, actors and criteria, for decision-making.

This panel will analyze the processes of reform of health systems in Brazil, Chile and Mexico aiming to evaluate how information and scientific evidence had influenced and still influence their development.
